Privacy, limits and retention

What is stored

For each person, Outcomify stores one row per step: a hash of the id you sent, the step's name and the first time they reached it. Nothing else: no name, no email, no IP address, no device, no page.

The person you send is hashed before it is stored, with a salt of your workspace's own, so Outcomify never keeps the raw id, and the same id in two workspaces can't be matched. Use your app's internal user id. Don't send an email address or a name as the person: there is no need, and it's better never to send what you don't have to.

No cookies, nothing in the browser

Steps are reported server to server. Outcomify runs no script on your site and sets no cookies on your users. Whether your own product needs your users' consent for what it measures is still yours to judge, as with anything your backend records.

How long it is kept

Each step is kept until it has not been reported for that person for 400 days, then deleted. Each step has its own clock: a step you report once, such as signed_up, is deleted 400 days after that, however active the person is in other steps. Sending a step again restarts its clock, though the time is refreshed at most once a month, so in practice it is kept for at least 370 days after the last report. 400 days covers the longest report, 180 days beside the 180 before it, and a year of weekly trends.

The key

The tracking key can report funnel steps and nothing else: it can't read your funnels, your tree or anything in your workspace. If it leaks, revoke it under Evidence → Connect and create a new one on the Funnels page.

A record is one person reaching one step for the first time. Sending a step again for the same person is free.

A call with a new step name past the 50 is refused with 422 rather than stored. Each funnel only needs a few, so pick names for the steps that matter rather than for every action in your app.
