Read the results

The needs Canopy heard, every question’s answers split by segment, who answered, and the export.

Once a survey is out, its page is its results, in three tabs.

Summary

The top counts how many people were Invited, Answered, Started, not finished (their answers so far are saved), and the Needs heard.

What they told you lists the needs Canopy heard in the open answers, each with how many of the people who wrote something said it, and a few of their words. One person saying the same thing five ways counts once. Open in Findings takes you to the need in your evidence, with every quote behind it.

Closed answers count as soon as a person hands their answers in. Open ones take a little longer: while Canopy is reading new answers, the page says so.

If the survey was drafted from an opportunity on your tree, each need has Cite as support and Cite against it, which add it to that opportunity’s evidence.

Questions

Every question’s answers, counted out of the people who answered that question, never everyone. A follow-up shown to twelve people, ten of whom answered, is out of ten. A question with a rule says who it was Asked of.

Above the closed questions, pick By plan, or any other column of your list, to compare the answers group by group; Everyone puts them back together. Each group says how many of its people answered, as n = 12, so you can see when a share rests on only a few people. A column with many values is compared by its six most common.

In their own words (“Other”) lists what people wrote beside “Other”. Open questions show the newest answers first.

Responses

Everyone the survey went to, and their status. Addresses stay hidden; a name shows when your list had one. Their answers opens what a person said. People who came by the open link are listed under Through the link, known only by when they answered.

Export the answers

Export answers downloads an Excel file: one row per person who handed their answers in, with when they did, their name if your list had one, whether they came from your list or the open link, their columns from your list, then a column per question. It never includes an address.

Your evidence

Every answer becomes evidence in your workspace, next to your interviews and your feedback board, so the needs a survey heard show up in Findings and can be cited on any opportunity.
